The Challenge

When Unapologetic Creative Co. began working with Partnership for Southern Equity (PSE), the organization had little to no centralized communications infrastructure.

  • Social media accounts were fragmented and inconsistently used

  • Audience engagement was stagnant

  • Messaging lacked clarity around what PSE did and why it mattered

  • There were no established communications systems, processes, or strategy

  • The organization had strong policy wins and impact—but no digital ecosystem to support or amplify that work


PSE initially brought UCC on for social media management, but it quickly became clear the organization needed far more than posting content.

They needed a full communications partner.


Our Approach

UCC stepped in as a strategic extension of the organization, working closely with leadership and internal staff to reimagine what communications could look like, and how it could actively support PSE’s mission, policy work, and fundraising goals. We moved fast to build both visibility and infrastructure.


Phase 1: Foundation & Activation

  • Reestablished and activated dormant social media platforms

  • Clarified organizational messaging, tone, and narrative

  • Reimagined PSE’s visual identity and digital aesthetic

  • Built editorial workflows, social media policies, and planning processes

Phase 2: Growth & Campaign Strategy

  • Launched major digital campaigns, including the Just Black Campaign

  • Produced campaign videos and short-form video assets

  • Designed graphics, messaging frameworks, and storytelling arcs

  • Expanded communications beyond social into press, pitching, and thought leadership


Phase 3: Full Communications Partnership

  • Took on end-to-end communications leadership for the organization

  • Led campaign strategy, copywriting, graphic design, and video production

  • Designed fundraising decks and donor-facing materials

  • Secured media placements and press coverage

  • Provided ongoing strategic consulting to leadership and staff
